Zilch Alexander is a minor character in Master Detective Archives: Rain Code. He was a detective who was set to board the Amaterasu Express but was killed by a hitman who stole his identity.

He is voiced by Yung-I Chang in English dub and Tomokazu Seki in Japanese dub.

What Makes Him An Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

  • We never see him in person, as he dies before the game even begins.
  • His design was deemed incredibly attractive. This made him one of the most popular characters when he and the other prologue detectives were being advertised. While it technically might not be how he looks, but how his doppelganger looks, we do still see his ID, which has Zilch's face, so unless the hitman forged an ID, they're likely practically identical. Anyways, this appeal made him one of the most popular characters pre-launch, only rivaled by Pucci Lavmin.
  • From the little we know of him, we know he's close with animals, with his Forte being entirely based around working with them. This has led to many finding him sweet and caring due to his closeness with these creatures.
  • Due to his utter lack of personality, fanfic writers can project practically anything they want onto him, provided they keep him loving animals, and still be perfectly in-character. Due to this, many people assume he's incredibly intelligent, solely based off traits we see from his impostor.
  • Many fans wish we actually saw him, at the very least in a flashback. It's so bad that characters from one-off DLC cases, like the victim in Fubuki's DLC, have more of a screen presence than he does. He's outdone by his own impostor.
