“ | Relax... I know what you're here. You want to get your hands on my homemade perfume, don't you? What kind would you like? | „ |
~ Ying'er, Three Poignant Perfumes. |
“ | Timaeus: Am I... Am I dreaming? Miss Ying'er, you really came all the way to Mondstadt to see me... Wh—Why were you willing to make the trip? I still can't believe it... Ying'er: Hehe, why wouldn't I want to come see you, hmm? It's not like a quick trip from Liyue to Mondstadt is completely unheard-of or anything. Also, isn't it time for you to drop the "Miss," and just call me Ying'er? Timaeus: Ying'er... Ying'er: Mm-hmm. Timaeus: Ying'er... Heh, I... I think I still need some time to get used to calling you that... Ying'er: Hehe, look at you, already so flustered. And we're just getting started! Timaeus: No no, I, uh... I... *sigh* I'm just overwhelmed with happiness. Thank you so, so much for coming to see me for Windblume... |

What Makes Her Ensemble Dark Horse? []
- In a game known for an improbable amount of female cast in which the tall women often depicted to be attractive, Ying'er is the NPC from Liyue Harbor, known for her double entendre dialogues by the audience. Even funnier, The Traveler initially mistakes her as a prostitute because of her dialogues.
- It is shown that the Mondstadt alchemist Timaeus fell in love after making potions together with her.
- There are many double-entendres associated with Ying'er:
- Her shop, Scent of Spring's Chinese name is "Spring-Scent Kiln" (春香窑 (Chinese: Chūnxiāng-yáo)), matching Chinese cultural idea of black-naped oriole (yīng) is a harbinger of spring. The word "kiln" in Chinese Language ((窑) yáo), aside being a common suffix of orthodox porcelain producers, also colloquially used to refer brothels.
- Additionally, the term "liúyīng" (流莺) literary means "wandering warbler/oriole", which is a euphemistic way referring to Streetwalker (Street Prostitution).
- Ying'er is one of the prominent NPCs appeared in several cutscenes, particularly Lantern Rite, aside Nadia & Vlad, the two Fatuus.
- Fans adored the voice actresses of Ying'er, especially in the English version, where Carrie Keranen manages to capture her flirty tone well.
- Yukino Ninomiya's performance as Ying'er in the Japanese version doesn't disappoint either, as it rivals Lisa's Japanese voice performance as well for being a big sister figure.
- There are many fanarts of Ying'er being shipped with the characters such as The Traveler (specifically Aether) and Timaeus, her canon love interest.
Trivia[]
- She is named after the same character in Dream of the Red Chamber, a Chinese novel authored by Cao Xueqin, which considered to be one of the Four Chinese Great Classical Novels.
- Ying'er's name is a diminutive of her true name Huángjīn Yīng. (黄金莺 lit. "Golden Oriole.")
