I would likely have died if it wasn't for your courage. But I'm still here, and Naboris still has its pilot. I'd wager that nothing can stop us.
~ Urbosa reassuring Riju

Urbosa is one of the supporting characters who first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and makes her return in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

She is voiced by Elizabeth Maxwell in the English version, who also voiced Riju in the same video game series, and by Rei Shimoda in the Japanese version.

What Makes Her an Ensemble Dark Horse[]

  • Fans find that Urbosa's design is undoubtedly attractive, and she definitely has the voice that goes with it.
  • Since Urbosa is a Gerudo, she is given an interesting subversion of the traditional Gerudo of previous games, with her acknowledging her people's dark past and Calamity Ganon's former affiliation with them which she passionately hated, as it left a dishonorable mark on the Gerudo's reputation which they distance themselves from. With Ganondorf having killed Queen Sonia for her Secret Stone to become the Demon King and conquered various lands including killing his own people, it's even clearer to see why she despised it.
  • She has a sympathetic background to which she was friends with the Queen of Hyrule, who would later give birth to Princess Zelda which she would pick up the affectionate nickname of "little bird" from her. She is devastated six years later when the queen suddenly dies and worries for Princess Zelda's wellbeing as she did not learn to access her sealing power through her. As a result, she become a trusting mother figure to her and is always there for her. It helps that Zelda is dealing not only the reality of her mother's death, but also with her strict overbearing father.
  • Urbosa is known to be observant and insightful of the events around her and is very sensible to the things that happen. She isn't too surprised when she sees Zelda acting dismissive and harsh towards Link and rightfully assumes this is due to her seeing Link as a living reminder of her own failures, and she shares that with Link in one of the cutscenes in hopes of improving their relationship which succeeded.
  • She is noted of her wisdom that she shares with Zelda and their bond with each other is believable and the same thing is said for her bond with Riju in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity as she often helps her through her insecurities whenever they surface.
  • Given how popular she is, Urbosa has been the subject of numerous fan art and has also appeared in fanfics.
  • Her signature power, Urbosa's Fury is known for being useful for shocking surrounding enemies which can keep them stunned for long periods of time which is great for crowd control.
