The Stranger, also known as Jack Fiddler or Flamethrower Guy, is a supporting character in the video game Until Dawn.

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?

• He is mainly featured in Chapter 8 of the main game, and is present in the previous chapters as a mysterious person. While he is an influential character, he doesn't progress the story as much as characters like Josh, Sam, and Chris. His brief screentime did give him a sizable fanbase.
• He is liked for his heroic deeds of killing Wendigos, trying to save Beth and Hannah, and handing Emily some flares before distracting a Wendigo so that she can escape. When he enters the cabin and tells the group of what's going on, he was considered very helpful from players of the game for finally being informed of what's going on. He is also appreciated for accompanying Chris to save Josh, though this leads to his death.
• He is considered rather wasted of a character, for how he was built up as this mysterious man with no discernible motive until being revealed to be a good person who tries to keep the curse at bay, to then dying in the very chapter where the characters and players learn about him. Despite that, he was overall well liked and fans wish he could have had a bigger role in the last chapters.
