~ Tatl |
Tatl is the deuteragonist in the game The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. She is Link's partner throughout the game and helps provide useful hints.
What Makes Her an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- Tatl is considered by fans to be a superior replacement of the less liked fairy companion, Navi from Ocarina of Time, since she does not interrupt the game very much and is also significantly less intrusive and irritating, and to add to it, her sounds sound like tiny bells ringing instead of the voice that Navi uses, which fans note that it is much more tolerable.
- She shares a backstory with Tael and the Skull Kid, and she first meets Skull Kid they become fast friends and hang out with each other up until the Skull Kid steals the cursed Majora's Mask from the Happy Mask Salesman which results in him getting possessed by the entity within it leading to her encounter with Link.
- Her personality is much more fleshed out than the previous companion as she is shown to be sassy, snarky, while also showing remorse, compassion, and kindness towards others. She is considered the better written version of Navi.
- She has a noticeable character development; she starts as an entitled rude brat who argues with her brother Tael regularly, willing to prank others and laugh at Link's expense when he is transformed into a Deku Scrub, but when she is separated from Tael and the Skull Kid, she initially blames Link for getting them separated while it was her own fault for taking a moment to rub his situation into his face while they are leaving, but when Link walks away, she quickly apologizes to Link for her behavior and joins him on his adventure through Termina. Through saving the Four Giants and helping various civilians with their dilemmas, Tatl's jerkish behavior begins to tone down and becomes a much kinder person to the point where she admits that she admires Link at the end of the game.
