The Tails Doll is one of the playable characters in the video game Sonic R.
What Makes It an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- The Tails Doll wasn't actually intended to be created for Sonic R at all. It was actually a prototype for the shootable dolls that appear in Eggman's Base in Sonic Adventure, which was in development around the time Sonic R was.[1] For unknown reasons however, the doll was implemented into the game. In spite of all of this, it is one of the things people remember most about the game, and one of the things most associated with Sonic the Hedgehog in general.
- It's no surprise that many who played the game found the doll to be rather unnerving, given its appearance, its dead-eyed stare, how it can levitate in the air, and how it's utterly out of place with the rest of the game. This is espescially true given that Sonic, Knuckles, and Eggman were all given robotic doppelgangers, but Tails was instead given this doll as his counterpart. Despite this, the doll's enigmatic nature had earned it an ironic fanbase.
- Because of this, the Tails Doll had been a very popular topic of urban legends and creepypastas.
- Its infamy as a creepypasta character was even highlighted in Archie comics, as evidenced in a "Sonic-grams" where the person answering the letters had stated that the Tails Doll would interfere with the story because of him being afraid of it. The comics even gives it the ability to transform into a monster, and even Sonic is afraid of it.
- Fans find the character visually pleasing, cute, and attractive even despite the creepy topics surrounding the character. Fans love drawing many forms of fanart of this character.
