Spawny is a supporting character who appears in the Mario + Rabbids series and was one of the key characters that the player needs to save from the corrupted SupaMerge's power that is negatively affecting the Rabbids.
What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- Spawny's differing personality plays a part in him standing out from the rest of the Rabbids has quickly garnered him quite a large fanbase as he is considered to be the most tolerable of the otherwise polarizing species. In the beginning, he was like the other Rabbids until he got a hold of the SupaMerge and mischievously merges objects with the Rabbids until he accidentally made the Time Washing Machine malfunction and he quickly realized what he did wrong before being sent to the Mushroom Kingdom and is eventually merged with the SupaMerge himself and loses control of the merging power throughout the game. While he does bear some fault for the events, he was remorseful for it overall which does not happen too often with his kind.
- Ever since merging with the SupaMerge, he has become a much calmer and timid Rabbid who often loses control over the SupaMerge's capabilities which ends up being exploited by Bowser Jr. and seeing him being poorly treated by Jr. made him one of the more sympathetic characters in the series.
- Spawny's design is also considered one of the most adorable out of all the Rabbids with his post-merged state, especially with his different sized eyes.
- He was popular enough to make another appearance in Sparks of Hope's The Tower of Doooom DLC where he is trapped at the top of the tower and the player must rescue him and he is able to gain confidence to travel the galaxy knowing that he can count on his buddies to help him out when needed. There was also some disappointment that there isn't a cutscene where he could have interacted with the new characters he never met before such as Edge and Rabbid Rosalina, which is considered a missed opportunity.
