Smitty Werben Jager Man Jensen is a minor character from SpongeBob SquarePants who appears in the episode "One Krabs Trash". He is first mentioned as a posthumous character who was notorious for his #1 soda drinking hat, said to be a relic worth a fortune and which Mr. Krabs tries to steal from his grave only to be stopped and fought by Smitty's undead skeleton and an army of other undead creatures.

He was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, who also voices Squilliam Fancyson in the same show.

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?

• As is the case with many one-shot joke characters from the classic SpongeBob era, Smitty reached cult and meme status for his short-lived appearance and hilarious writing.
• He has a cool and memorable name which became a common joke among SpongeBob fans.
• To further drive the point of his attachment to his hat and the legend behind it, Smitty was buried after passing with his #1 hat still on, leading to the iconic scene of Mr. Krabs going to the graveyard to try and steal his property.
• The shot of his dead body inside his grave is one of the many iconic closeups that SpongeBob is popular for.
• He gets a funny bit of dialogue when Mr. Krabs steals his hat ("Hey, man, that's my hat. Give it back!").
• As an undead skeleton, Smitty refuses to surrender his hat and puts up a fight against Mr. Krabs, who takes a shovel and trashes his army of the undead. This also drives home just how greedy and delusional Krabs really is, disturbing the peace of the dead just to make a quick buck.
