Slime Boy is a major protagonist in the 2021 animated series, High Guardian Spice.
He is a friend of the titular group and manager of a small store who wants to become a helpful guardian while also trying to keep his fellow classmates from being too crazy.
He is voiced by Julian Kuster.
What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- While High Guardian Spice has been criticized constantly for trying too hard to use the characters to push a message, viewers and critics alike found Slime Boy to be a breathe of fresh air as he isn't used to push a message, but simply be a voice of reason.
- His quiet and awkward demeanor helps to balance out the normally chaotic nature of his classmates.
- His singing voice is impressive and shocked viewers with how lovely and soothing his singing was.
- He has some pretty comedic moments, such as trying to introduce himself to Rose, only to be embarrassed by his greeting, or jokingly asking Neppy if he had too many of Parnell's cookies after falling down.
- He is a nice guy, especially for a show filled with unlikable characters. No matter how many times he's been made fun of or got something of his broken, he calmly lets it go and even embraces it.
- Many critics and audiences agreed with his critiques towards the titular group, such as how Amaryllis shouldn't doing magic when she has no experience with it or how Rosemary's destructiveness made things worse than they needed to be.
