Satan, known as The Devil, is one of the Major Antagonists in Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse. He is a powerful angel created by merging Lucifer and Merkabah.
In English Dub, he is voiced by David Forseth (In SMT IV Apocalypse) & Keith Silverstein (In SMT V Vengeance). While in Japanese Dub, he is voiced by Isamu Yusen.
What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- Like any usual satan depictions, he is depicted with seven heads, in which three being draconic heads, two pair of wings, impaled palms, complete with a red and black color scheme, combining any depictions of The Devil from The Bible.
- Unlike any other depictions of Satan, This Satan is more benevolent more than Merkabah and Lucifer, who both were seperate entities of Law and Chaos respectively. Not to mention, Satan embrace neutrality, fulfilling his role as The Judge. He saw YHVH unfit for the position as The Creator because of being a God with Abusive Authority, AKA Archetypal Maltheism. Regardless, he will Nanashi defeating YHVH, and died after fulfilling his goal regardless of the routes.
- Satan also have a noble demon ethics, as he would serve the creator and will overthrow his creator to replace the predecessor with the successor should the former creator, like YHVH abuse His authority because minor inconveniences.
- The idea of benevolent Satan dethrone evil God later inspires the team to create Satanael being the God's rebellious Angel, or an Ultimate Trickster to defeat Yaldabaoth in Persona 5 as Joker's Ultimate Persona in the vanilla game.
- The Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse design of Satan won many hearts of fans because of The Devil's awesome look. He returns in SMT V Vengeance as a Superboss.
- His signature attack, Megiddo Ark, is a slight to behold, especially in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.
