Why Do People Love The Character?	Fanbase adored so much Sampo's lovable rogue antics though he is a wild card, and he's also friendly towards children such as Hook. His dynamic relationship with the Trailblazer, along with fellow Masked Fools Giovanni, and Sparkle. His accidental Hero actions kickstarted The Astral Express Crew and Bronya's journey in Belobog Subsurface, leading to rendezvous with Wildfire resistance against Cocolia.

Sampo Koski, simply known as Sampo, is a supporting playable character in turn-based role-playing video game Honkai Star Rail, debuting in Jarilo-VI Trailblaze Mission. He is one of the Masked Fools, an intergalactic organization of tricksters who were devoted to the Aeon of Elation, Aha. Sampo is a silver-tongued salesman who never leave debts unpaid. He also appears in Honkai Impact 3rd as an antagonist & a boss in Honkai Impact 3rd x Honkai Star Rail collaboration event.

He is voiced by Roger Rose in the English dub, Liu Shengbo (刘圣博) in the Chinese dub, Daisuke Hirakawa (平川大輔) in the Japanese dub, and Jeong Jae-heon (정재헌) in the Korean dub.

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?

• Sampo is introduced as a trickster in hilarious manner, failing to hide in snow drift before getting shaken by Dan Heng's spear and the characters make fun of him. Also, Stupidity is part of his methods so that he pretends he's just sitting there & covered in snow, being unnoticed to the SIlvermane Guards, until the Astral Express Crew advanced towards Belobog.
• The Light Cone description and the image, "Eyes of the Prey," depicts him being an elusive trickster that he's being able to evade snipers.
• Sampo is known for being the infamous thief in Belobog. Despite his reputation, he does be friendly towards children though such as Hook.
• He does help a fellow Masked Fool, Giovanni in organizing Aetherium Wars event in Belobog.
• Sampo knows that Sparkle's antics can be too mean-spirited such as provoking Sunday by Impersonating Robin, shortly after the memory zone monster seemingly kills the latter. Despite this, they're acquintances though and Sparkle knows that Sampo has a line that he won't cross. When added with Sparkle in a team, Sampo warns her not to backstab him.
  • The "Sampo" in Penacony was actually Sparkle in disguise. Firefly mistook her as Sampo during their travel in Penacony with the Trailblazer.
• In the story, Sampo's role is being accidental hero, despite him bailing out from Gepard Landau earlier, as he threw smoke bombs that meant to save the Trailblazer, March 7th, & Dan Heng. In resulted Bronya getting caught in a smoke and brought into the underworld after losing consciousness, kickstarting the halfway journey in Belobog Subsurface.
• Keep in mind that Sampo's unpredictability plays during the heist of Belobogian Artifacts in "Everwinter City Museum Ledger of Curiosities", where he's still a wanted criminal and not above siccing his accomplices such as The Trailblazer.
  • There's also one time that Sampo disguises as a drag with an alias "Madame Brughel Poisson".
• At some point, he appears in Topaz' Character Trailer, trying to evade IPC taxes, only to get caught effortlessly by Topaz, one of the Ten Stonehearts.
• In Honkai Impact 3rd x Honkai Star Rail collaboration event, he (allegedly) instigates the Fool's Hand along with Sparkle and is taking the role as the Fall Guy. There's a reason why some of the fanbase just here for Sampo's trickster antics.
  • Additionally, Sampo as a boss has more movesets than he has in Honkai Star Rail, including hiding in a Trashcan.
