Rei Membami is a minor character in The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve. She was Susato Mikotoba's best friend who was falsely accused of the murder of Jezaille Brett.
What Makes Her An Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- She barely has any screentime, only appearing in the second game's first case, which wasn't particularly long, especially compared to the first game's first case, and the credits, despite her name being a pun on "remember me" and her being on the box art.
- The main reason she was on the box art is because even the artist himself was a fan of her, despite her lack of relevance.
- She interrupts Raiten Menimemo's breakdown with Susato by judo-throwing him, a feat never done before in Ace Attorney history.
- She has a lot of easy shipping fuel with Susato, as whilst she's disguised as Ryutaro, she calls "him" dashing and gallant, and even making similar comments AFTER learning it's her best friend.
- She's a very nice person, and easy to root for, considering she did practically nothing wrong.
- Unlike some other AA defendants, it doesn't feel like she made some incredibly idiotic moves just so that she could randomly be pegged as a murderer. Her actions make logical sense, like trying to pull the knife out of Brett because she believed it was covered in poison.
- Despite her utter hatred of Jezaille Brett, she still attempted to save her life, even knowing she was the person who murdered her professor.
- Her design is widely considered to be very cute.
- Fans feel she could've done a lot more, considering she was incredibly close to Susato, and could maybe become a major character.
Trivia[]
- She was initially not intended to even be in the game, with Yujin Mikotoba being the defendant of the first case instead. However, the case was deemed vastly too dark of an opening, so Rei was swapped into the defendant role to lighten the tone.
