Rantaro Amami is a character in the 2017 video game Danganropa V3 Killing Harmony. As the Ultimate Adventurer (Later Survivor), he was one of the overarching protagonists, along with Kaede Akamatsu. He was the first victim in the game, with him dying due to blunt-force trauma due to a hit with a shot put ball.

He was voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch in the English dub and Hikaru Midorikawa in the Japanese version.

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

He became popular in the Danganronpa community due to his design and outfit. In fact, his green hair spawned a meme about him resembling an avocado.
The way he sits on a chair "incorrectly" is very iconic. In fact, it shows up on the TV Tropes page for the "Edgy Backwards Sitting Chair" trope.
Fans enjoy the voice performances of his voice actors, who did a good job portraying his laid-back demeanour.
He is shown to be polite and did not have enough screentime to show his negative qualities. Therefore, fans would have no reason to dislike him aside from him only appearing in one chapter.
Due to his limited screentime and insufficiently characterized personality, fans find him rather interested and think his demise is wasted potential.
Some fans ship him with Kaede Akamatsu, Korekiyo Shinguji, Shuichi Saihara, and other characters.
Fans enjoyed his calm behaviour and the dark vibe added to his character.
