Princess Luna is a major character in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
What Makes Her an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- Despite only being mentioned in the pilot episode of the series, barely any real screen time and only having a couple of lines, Luna was an instant fan favorite due to how cool her design was combined with the tragedy of her backstory.
- While she has since been upgraded to Breakout Character, at the time, Luna was barely utilized in the series that she became a favorite subject of numerous MLP:FiM fan fics.
- The design for her alter-ego, Nightmare Moon, was viewed as genuinely cool, attractive and beautiful, with her being one of the franchise's first real threats since G1.
- When she returned in season 2, Luna only had a couple of cameos in the finale as well as her own personal episode, but those small factors only continued to help her popularity in the eyes of the fans.
- Her day in the limelight episode gave Luna even more tragic moments as well as several new quirks that the fanbase grew to love.
