Mrs. Beatrice Potts is a supporting character of Disney's 30th full-length animated feature, Beauty and the Beast. As the mother of Chip Potts, she is the castle's housekeeper who became a teapot during the curse.

In most of the franchise, she was by voiced the late Dame Angela Lansbury. In Belle's Magical World, she was voiced by Anne Rogers. In the 2017 live-action remake of the same name, she was voiced and portrayed by Dame Emma Thompson.

What Makes Her An Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

Despite not having a major role compared to Lumiere, Cogsworth, Belle and the Beast, Mrs. Potts is well known for her smart, sweet, soft spoken and motherly traits in a serious yet romantic movie about an unlikely relationship between two protagonists, which also helps balance out the serious tones of the film.
Fans are impressed that she is actually one of the smartest Disney Mothers, along with Darling from Lady and the Tramp, as Mrs. Potts does whatever she can to advise the Beast to learn his manners when it comes to meeting Belle. This is especially when she acts stern to the Beast, who appears to respect his housekeeper in return.
She is liked for being a kind-hearted and supporting mother of Chip as shown when she had Chip be used as a cup to help Maurice who got lost in the woods, further demonstrating how much of a caring woman she is.
Her elegant and motherly performance by the late Dame Angela Lansbury has played a role in making Mrs. Potts as one of the well known Disney Mothers and marks one of Lansbury's most memorable roles in her career.
- Even Emma Thompson also did a good job playing the character in the 2017 live-action remake of the same name by sounding motherly and sweet.
While her most admirable deed was done under the orders of Lumiere and Cogsworth, she did manage to play an important role in warning the Beast about the castle being under attack by the villagers, led by Gaston.
Fans are impressed that she was one of few characters that still retain her original personality in Belle's Magical World.
Overall, her motherly and smart traits has played a role in making her one of the most memorable characters of Beauty and the Beast.
