Mrs. Mayberry is a minor character in Helluva Boss, serving as the overarching protagonist of the season 1 episode Murder Family and a minor character in the episode Apology Tour. She is a former kindergarten teacher who committed suicide after catching her husband cheating on her with another woman named Martha, who survived her deadly rampage of revenge. After descending into Hell and becoming a demon, she hires Blitzø and his company to assassinate Martha as revenge.
She was voiced by Mara Wilson.
What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- Her design is quite creative in how it correlates to how she died as a human (her flaming hair symbolizes the sin that ultimately caused her downfall; wrath and having pink skin to show how she's mainly a good person outside of the final moments of her life). She's also considered by many fans to be very beautiful even after (and arguably even moreso) being turned into a demon.
- Her backstory prior to being sent to Hell is seen as sympathetic, seeing as how she regretted killing her husband in a fit of blind rage and especially having done it in front of her students and killing herself out of shame. Even her murderous grudge against Martha is considered to be more understandable than most of the motives of I.M.P.'s clients, as she was a homewrecker that willing played a part in ruining her marriage with Jerold.
- Her having fallen in love with Martha during their time together in Hell as sinners was largely considered to be an example of fanservice done right and the scene where it's revealed is pretty funny.
- Her voice acting by Mara Wilson was phenomenal, being seen as yet another example of the superb voice acting in Helluva Boss.
- Her being revealed as a lesbian has arguably made her character more interesting, with many theorizing that she felt compelled to be a compulsory heterosexual relationship or "found herself" in Hell.
