Moto Moto (which means "Hot Hot" in Swahili) is a supporting character in the 2008 DreamWorks animated film Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa. He is a buff hippopotamus who wants to win Gloria's heart.
He was voiced by American rapper Will.i.am.
What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- Despite appearing as a minor character in the franchise, he still stands out among fans due to his fanbase increasing in early 2019.
- His voice actor Will.i.am, known for being a musician, manages to make Moto Moto's voice deep and fits incredibly well for a buff hippo.
- His introduction when he comes out of the water is extremely funny as he pushes objects out of the way and even runs over people (played for slapstick comedy), all while keeping his eyes on Gloria and having a grin on his face, we also get a very hilarious close up of his butt, and his song "Big and Chunky" describes how he loves chubby hippos.
- He is very polite and nice to all the animals, as he helps them search for water, and especially Gloria when manipulating her.
- In early 2019, there was many memes of fans recreating his introduction, as they animated characters with ripped bodies coming out of water with Moto Moto's theme tune, "Big and Chunky" playing in the background.
