Minato Namikaze, is a major character of the anime/manga series Naruto.
He is the Fourth Hokage of Konoha, the husband of Kushina Uzumaki, the father of Naruto Uzumaki, and one of the village's most skilled and talented shinobi’s of their time.
He was voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa in Japanese. And by Tony Oliver in the English.
Why is he an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- Minato has only appeared in about 2 lengthy flashbacks, and appeared in less then 40 episodes, so he doesn’t have much screentime, he is mostly only mentioned throughout the story. In spite of this he is still one of the most popular characters in the entire franchise, and still ranks pretty high in popularity polls.
- He is an absolute badass. His main jutsu, the Rasengan, is a powerful technique he created himself. Although he lacks story-breaking eye powers, elemental combinations like Wood Style, or a special clan lineage, this actually just makes him even cooler as he relies mostly on flashy, self-made techniques rather than inherited powers.
- To further cement how badass he is, is the fact that he became the youngest Hokage in history, which means he was the quickest in proving himself to be a powerful and capable leader.
- He is also seen as one of the fastest and strongest characters in the franchise, which is best demonstrated by how easily he defeated Obito Uchiha, one of the series' most powerful villains.
- His relationship with Kushina is seen as one of the few actually well executed romances in Naruto.
- His sacrifice and death scene is very emotional, but it also provided a satisfying conclusion to his character.
