Lumalee is a minor character in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. He was captured by Bowser and his army and has since then developed a nihilistic outlook on life.

He was voiced by Juliet Jelenic.

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

Even though Lumalee does not have very much screentime like the other side characters, he was still memorable enough to be considered one of the highlights of the movie by bringing some dark comedy to a mostly light-hearted movie.
He's also considered to be sympathetic due to being imprisoned by Bowser far longer than Luigi or the penguins, and his psychotic nature is implied to be because of that.
Like all the other Lumas in the games, Lumalee is still incredibly adorable in spite of his sanity slippage. He is also shown to be an excellent saxophone player during the ending when he is finally free.
Just seeing Lumalee's presence in the film implies that Rosalina may appear in a future movie.
