Luke Atmey is a minor antagonist in the Ace Attorney franchise.
He is a renowned detective and secret blackmailer who blackmailed Ron DeLite into pretending to be the criminal, Mask☆DeMasque, to boost his career. After Kane Bullock discovered his secret, Luke murdered him and framed Ron.
What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- Despite essentially being a filler antagonist who doesn’t really affect the plot in any way, players enjoyed how entertaining he was, thanks to his hammy and theatrical personality. Every scene he appears in features him proudly exclaiming his arrival, confusing Phoenix and Maya with his metaphors, and speaking in a theatrical manner about things that aren’t important.
- Although he has a large ego, he is capable of backing it up with a surprisingly high intelligence, such as deducing Phoenix and Maya’s jobs simply by looking at them.
- His plan is considered one of the smartest in the Ace Attorney series. It involves him murdering Kane Bullock in his office, leaving an unconscious Ron in the area to frame him of the murder, then having himself arrested and falsely confessed to being Mask☆DeMasque to build the alibi of being arrested, all while knowing that if he’s arrested as Mask☆DeMasque, he will get a lighter sentence and will build an audience around it.
- His design is memorable for how bizarre and eye-catching it is, matching his attention-seeking personality.
