Leah Clearwater is one of supporting characters from Twilight series. She is the first and only female werewolf from Quileute Tribe, who also member of Sam Uley's pack and also his ex-girlfriend before the former imprinted on her cousin, Emily Young. After Jacob leave the pack, she joins him to avoid being controlled by Sam which leads her become his Beta on his new pack. She has younger brother named Seth Clearwater, who also become werewolf at the same day of her phasing.

She is played by Julia Jones in movie.

What Makes Her an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

The books seems intended to make her a Hate Sink character for being unsympathetic bitch who won't gracefully accepted being broken up with Sam and immediately imprinted on her cousin. After know the reason of her problems and why she is so jaded, reader choose to sympathize at her and feels her bitterness is make a senses.
Her past and her current position really screw-up. First, her boyfriend Sam suddenly disappear from her and when he back, she is dumped by Sam after he imprinted on Emily Young after his phasing. She felt so betrayed by her cousin for accepting Sam and make mood constantly changing, which resulting on her phasing in front of her parents, and her father died from heart attack after seeing her transformation. This ultimately make Leah always feel guilty of what already happens to her father and forced to stay with Sam's pack while mentally and emotionally always hurt after seeing his happy memory with Emily due to their share werewolf telepathy link.
After Jacob get rejected by Bella, Leah sympathize with him and understand what is his feel. Despite Jacob ever being ungrateful at her due to her statement make Bella' cries, Leah remains on his side as his Beta of his pack.
She is very protective toward her younger brother, Seth Clearwater. While her intention to join Jacob side is completely break from Sam's control, she also wanted to protect Seth with any cost.
She is one of few character in Novel who not fawning over Bella Swan and over criticizing her behavior near Jacob.

Trivia[]

Since werewolf has Imprinting to find their soulmate, its unknown if it can be happen on Leah since she is the first female werewolf in history.
