Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower was the major antagonist in a downloadable content of Bloodborne: The Old Hunters. She was one of the old hunters who was originally a citizen of Cainhurst and studied under Gehrman's guidance, whom she admired. At the time when she partakes the hunt, she partook in the excursion by Bygenwerth Scholars in Fishing Hamlet, learned the mutations of the villagers had undergone from presence of the Great One Kos, whose corpse were left ashore near the village. The mission took Maria's morals as she committed a sacriligeous actions by harvesting the eldritch blood of Kos, and Maria and the rest of the Old Hunters were imprisoned in Hunter's Nightmare. Out of guilt, Lady Maria forfeits her beloved Rakuyo by tossing it down to the well when she "could no longer stomach it", supposedly killing herself as well. Her spirit was pulled into the Hunter's Nightmare, unable to departed and currently sitting inside the Astral Clocktower.
She's voiced by Evetta Muradasilova in English dub and Saori Hayami in Japanese dub, who were also the voices of The Doll in the base game.
What Makes Her Ensemble Dark Horse? []
- Lady Maria initially partakes the excursion into Fishing Hamlet with the Bygenwerth Scholars to study the madness plaguing the Fishing Hamlet. However, she abandoned her goal to seek knowledge from it as it took a great cost of her morality as well as committing a sacrilegious act by proxy that she ended up being cursed after she, along with the other old hunters & Bygenwerth scholars, have to kill the mutated villagers and killing the Great One Kos as well for the research. And when things just getting worse in Yharnam by Beast Plague, she ended up residing in the Astral Clocktower within the Research Hall, where she wanted to end her life out of guilt, only for her soul cannot be departed within the Hunter's Nightmare.
- Lady Maria bears the resemblance to The Doll in the base game, whom is the person was modelled after. Like The Doll, Lady Maria was also known for her compassionate nature. In which, she earned a fan-nickname "The Original Paleblood Waifu".
- In her boss fight, her fighting style includes a Rakuyo with an Evelyn pistol, combines with pyromancy and blood magic. While she's the only DLC Boss who doesn't become a beast or using a Great One's eldritch blood, but being a Cainhurst noble, she just weaponizing Seppuku in second phase and then using pyromancy in the last phase, as her last resort because it's cool. 
- Additionally, among the bosses of The Old Hunters DLC, Lady Maria is the Fragile Speedster, being a fast attacker while being a glass cannon, compared to the other Lightning Bruiser bosses such as Ludwig the Accursed, Living Failures, Orphan of Kos, the DLC final boss, and let alone Laurence the First Vicar, the DLC Superboss.
- The hauntingly beautiful of her boss theme with three parts. Which represents her guilt to preserve the dark secret in Fishing Hamlet and desperately trying to prevent any hunters trespassing through her.
- Her design is so stylish that in the promotional material, that she was referred to the old hunter before being revealed to be a Female Hunter, who also bears the resemblance to The Doll in the base game. 
- The fact that she also voiced by The Doll's Voice Actresses sends the players chills down the spine when hearing a familiar voice.
- Lady Maria also becomes a substitute of Gehrman from the base game. In which both were lightning bruiser mirror bosses who also guards the dark secret, such particularly Mother Kos in the DLC, like Gehrman and Flora, The Moon Presence in the base game. They're both also hero antagonists.
- However, unlike Gehrman, Lady Maria is a mandatory boss in order to proceed to Fishing Hamlet. 
- She was named after the early name of the Moon's "Oceans", Lunar Maria.
