What Makes Her an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
Despite previously appearing in a few smaller bit roles, Julia Rehwald managed to impress the fanbase with her performance. As a result, the audience viewed Kate as a fun, snarky character.
Her relationship with Deena's younger brother Josh was considered adorable.
Kate's death at the hands of the killers where her head is shoved into the meat grinder is considered one of the most iconic moments in the trilogy.
Even though she only appears in part one, Kate and (to a lesser extent) Simon are considered to be more likeable than Deena (who some fans feel is too whiny and uninteresting) and Sam (who some fans consider to be the load).
