J. Jonah Jameson is a recurring character in the original live-action Spider-Man trilogy, directed by Sam Raimi. He is Peter Parker's rude boss, and is obsessed with Spider-Man, who he doesn't believe is a real hero, but a dangerous criminal.
He is portrayed by J. K. Simmons.
What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- He is known for each of his brief scenes in the three films, most notably in Spider-Man 2 where most of his memes originated from. He doesn't have much screen-time compared to the main characters, and despite not contributing much to the plots he is seen as a genuine treasure by the fans.
- He is immensely remembered for his acting from J.K. Simmons and is often seen as one of the funniest characters in the films in large part of Simmons' acting.
- Despite how wrathful and rude he is, his fans find his behavior hilarious and charming. He also has softer moments, like when he sounds proud of his son when talking to Peter, or when he refused to give up Peter to Green Goblin. Those moments are seen by many as clear evidence he's not just an angry guy, and are appreciated by fans as they view Jameson's character as more than that.
- The amount of memes that came from him are quite high, including the famous laugh he makes when Peter asks for payment upfront. After decades he is still used in various memes and is quoted by his fans quite often.
