Curse you, Bayle! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true drake warrior! And I, Igon! Your fears made flesh! Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon... But I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! With a hail of harpoons! With every last drop of my being!
~ Igon, if The Tarnished summoned him to fight Bayle

Igon is a supporting character from Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. He is a former scavenger turned practitioner of Dragon Communion. He is obsessed with his sole goal to kill Bayle the Dread.

He is voiced by Richard Lintern

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

  • In Bayle's Boss fight, Igon can be summonable for assistance. If you did summon him, you'll be greeted with a hammy Igon ranting at the Dragon. And thus, the new meme material is born.
    • Props to his VA, maybe underrated, but also worth mentioning for a great job making Igon an insane yet hammy old man.
  • Like Shira in Dark Souls 3, Igon wants Bayle dead for personal vendetta. He'll be died after succeeded killing Bayle the Dread.
    • Miyazaki stated that Igon's origins were enigmatic. Some audiences say that Igon's family were a victim of Bayle's reign of terror and Igon turns from a nobody to a nightmare for Bayle.
  • Igon is basically Fromsoftware's answer for Captain Ahab from Moby Dick.
    • Funnily enough, he insist calling his arrows "harpoons", cementing him being a Ahab's Dragonslayer expy.
    • All of Igon's Armor were a scavenged remains of the lesser dragons, including whom he had slain. Though Bayle's not even better either, since he eats his own children yet sires his mate.
  • Ironically, Ancient Dragon Florissax / Dragon Communion Priestess stated that Igon has a burning ambition and unhinged ferocity that made him similar to Bayle, his arch-enemy. Igon has a relentlessly desire to kill Igon despite the dragon being obviously bigger, while Bayle itself has a Guts to defy Placidusax' rule and even goes far attempted usurping Placidusax for the Dragonlord title out of spite. The fact there is a model of one legged Igon just like Bayle after a gruelling fight with Placidusax may not be a coincidence.

Trivia[]

  • Igon is an Ensemble Dark Horse from Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC along with Sir Ansbach.
  • Richard Lintern, Igon's VA have no idea what kind of the character Igon is and what or who actually is Bayle, his nemesis. While the voice director gave him an opportunity to chew the scenery as possible.[1]
