Hol Horse is a supporting antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, and the main protagonist of the spin-off manga Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak. He is a Drifter who served as one of DIO's minions in 1988.

In Japanese, he was voiced by Hidenobu Kiuchi in the anime, Eyes of Heaven, Last Survivor, and All-Star Battle R, Hochu Otsuka in All-Star Battle, Keiichi Nanba in the CD Drama, and Norio Wakamoto in the OVA. In the English dubs, he was voiced by Roger L. Jackson (who also voiced a disguised Stu Macher in Scream) in the OVA, and Imari Williams in the anime.

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

  • He is an Cowboy drifter who occasionally rides a horse (a motorbike in the OVA) and acts chivalrous toward women.
    • Although his code, there are some exceptions, the first time he had to duel with a grieving Enya out of self-defense, whom she considered him letting her son J. Geil die. The second that he follows Thoth's predictions from Boingo, resulting him have to kick the woman to save her from being stung by the scorpion.
  • His Stand, "Emperor", is known for its capability to control the trajectory of his bullets, and his infinite magazines. However, Hol Horse himself is sucks at aiming, making him relying on his teammate, J. Geil to kill Avdol, who took the bullet to save Polnareff (Apparently). He should have killed the Joestars when they were sleeping, in spite of that, he manages to kill none of them. Making him one of the DIO's incompetent minions, alongside Oingo & Boingo Brothers.
  • Many fans like that while being a boasting coward, he is far less sadistic than the other DIO's agents, such as the more depraved J. Geil, coming across the bounty hunter doing his job, Even when he attacks civilians, it is out of reluctant prediction, or provoked retailation.
    • Ironically, despite being a coward, he's gutsy enough to pull the trigger to kill DIO himself in point blank range after the vampire belittles him too many times. After DIO admires his guts for attempting to kill him, Hol Horse ended up shaken in fear or being furious in OVA adaptation.
  • He eventually ends up with Boingo, a fellow incompetent agent of DIO. Therefore having an intergenerational friendship. He did saving an unsuspecting woman from the scorpion, therefore is rewarded with a jewelry, with the help of Boingo's Stand ability, Thoth's prediction.
    • He then attempted to kill the Jotaro & Polnareff at Aswan with Boingo's stand power. When an unintended prophetic fallacy ensues, Hol Horse is trying to prevent further propethic mishaps, and eventually ends up gets shot accidently in the head, just like he did to Avdol, Incapacitated resulting him retired Instead of dying.
  • Fans found his interactions with Polnareff and Boingo to be funny.
  • His popularity was enough to get his own spin-off story with Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak.

Trivia[]

  • He's named after Daryl Hall and John Oates, the American rock duo known as Hall & Oates.
