Hog was one of the many opponents planned for the now-cancelled Friday Night Funkin' mod "Vs. Sonic.Exe". A copy of Sonic brought to life by an illegal add-on, he finds himself controlled by the hero he unknowingly replaced, and is now subject to watching his world crumble apart. He would've been the main opponent for "Hedge" and the secondary opponent for "Manual Blast".
He is voiced by Madzilla.
What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- Despite being one of the literal dozens of characters planned to debut in the mod that never made it into the cancelled build, Hog has been subject to a lot of love for a multitude of factors.
- Hog's general design, being an offshoot version of Sonic with no mouth, large eyes, and fluffier appearance, has made him quite endearing to look at.
- Unlike most of the characters in the mod, Hog is one of the few to be either neutral or straight up heroic, and his planned "attacks" are seemingly just Hog showing off his skills.
- Hog is one of the most sympathetic characters in the mod, being a kid who is possessed by Scorched, the spirit of Sonic driven mad at the thought of being replaced. Being the vessel of the monster who slaughtered his entire world for a transgression beyond his control, Hog stands out as one of the most pitiful EXEs, not only in the mod but in the entire fandom itself. Hog's transformation into Scorched in itself evokes sympathy for the guy, as it's heavily implied that it's painful for Hog.
- Both songs that Hog appear in, being "Hedge" and "Manual Blast", are well-liked, with the latter being considered one of the best songs in the mod, if not in the entire modding scene.
- While Scorched has been subject to a bit of a broken base due to similarities to EXE (who was removed due to controversies surrounding his creator), Hog himself is different enough from EXE's "faker" form to stand out.
- Aside from a scrapped appearance in the original iteration of ILLEGAL INSTRUCTION, Hog was not officially planned for any other mods for Friday Night Funkin', leading to him feeling underutilized to a degree.
Trivia[]
- Hog is potentially going to get his very own project in the future, most likely in the form of a game. Should the project officially release, Hog would no longer qualify as an Ensemble Dark Horse due to having a major role in a story, and not just being a scrapped opponent for a rhythm game mod.
