Hiroshi Hayashi is a minor character in the Yakuza series. He is featured as a minor antagonist in Yakuza, Yakuza 2 and the Kiwami remakes. He was a member of the Omi Alliance until he was kicked out for failing to defeat Kiryu, he was then recruited into the Go-Ryu Clan by Ryuji Goda in the second game where he challenges Kiryu again and was defeated by him.
He is voiced by Shun Sugata in the Japanese version and Peter Lurie (whom also voiced Jumpin' Johnny Jumble) in the PS2 English dub.
What Makes Him An Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- In his first scene, he is shown to be polite as he patiently allows Kiryu to take a phone call while speaking with him.
- His quote from the PS2 English dub "Kill this arrogant motherf*cker" became a huge meme in the Like A Dragon community due to his English VA's odd delivery of "motherf*cker".
- Although his boss fight in the first game isn't notably, fans really loved his boss fight in Yakuza 2 as he is shown to have more health bars then the final boss himself and his second phase involves him ripping two pipes and using them as kali sticks which left an impression in many fans and made him memorable.
- His Yakuza 2 theme "Evil Itself" (that was unfortunate cut from the Kiwami remake) sounds amazing and it made fans like and remember Hayashi more.
- Despite having limited screentime and hasn't returned in a main Yakuza title in 13 years. (besides the non-canon spinoff Dead Souls or the Kiwami Remakes) fans remember Hayashi fondly to the point where he is one of the most popular characters in the fandom. So much so that many fans hope that Hayashi returns to a new Yakuza game.
- Unfortunately, he doesn't appear in Infinite Wealth, nor does he receive a cameo as one of Kiryu's memoirs that even included characters that were once considered forgotten by the devs such as Tanimura, Shinada and Sayama.
