Hans Archibald, who referred himself as "Stanley" is a supporting character in open world role-playing video game Genshin Impact. He is a senior adventurer who is renowned for his feats to exploring Mare Jivari, a location that which very distant from Mondstadt. While initially perceived by Paimon as a Fraud, in truth, he is actually Stanley's surviving partner who had survivor's guilt after witnessing his friend, Stanley sacrificing himself at Mare Jivari, the part he omitted from his storytelling. He is the focus character in Venti's Story Quest: Carmen Dei Chapter 1: Should You Be Trapped in a Windless Land.

His voice actors were currently unknown. 

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?

• Hans Archibald is an example of a sympathetic fraud that he wanted to preserve his friend's achievements in a storytelling rather than for stealing others deeds for glory. In which, he ended up bragging to everyone that he himself was "Stanley" because of omitting a crucial detail about the real Stanley's heroic sacrifice that saves him in Mare Jivari (Which located as the Southwestern part of Teyvat).
• Because of his partner Stanley died in Mare Jivari, Hans wanted to preserve his friend's memory and soul through storytelling within Mare Jivari, but he nearly ended up perceived as a fraud because omitting the crucial part above, which made him lamenting his late partner while drinking wine, for dying in the windless land. He gradually fears that he can't remember the face of the real Stanley within his imaginary friend, which made him pitiable to the fanbase.
  • Many Patches Later, Natlan updates reveal that Hans Archibald's despair speech was metaphorically true about Mare Jivari, which is located in part of Natlan, that his friend's soul was handled by Shade of Death, Ronova in Night Kingdom.
• Despite being a fake hero, Hans tried hard to be a good mentor of a junior adventurer, Jack.
• Many Patches Later, fanbase acknowledge that Hans Archibald preserving his late-partner, Stanley mirrors a Khaenri'ah Captain of a Refugee Platoon, Thrain (Who is currently known as Il Capitano, the 1st ranked Harbinger) preserving the souls of his fallen comrades within his heart after the Cataclysm. Hans Archibald, on the other hand, have no idea that he did succeed preserving his friend's memory and soul through storytelling from the Windless Land to the Mondstadt, as he tried to cope his survivor's guilt by drinking wine.
  • While the souls of Natlan, according to Citlali, will fades away in 30 days after the person died, both Il Capitano and Hans Archibald possess a will of determination that keeps the souls of their deceased comrades fading away from Natlan in 30 years. Hans's case is by remembering his deceased partner, Stanley's great achievements with storytelling.
  • Both of them eventually achieves their goal to send their comrades a proper rest. While Hans manages to bring the soul of his partner, Stanley to rest with the help of Venti, Il Capitano manages to accept the death as Ronova's sacrificial person and taking Mavuika's place, to make his comrade's souls rest in peace.

Trivia

• Hans Archibald's late partner, "Stanley" is named after a famous adventurer, Henry Morton Stanley. Although, he isn't the only known person from Mondstadt who is named after the said Adventurer.
