Gwimbly is the titular character in the Smiling Friends episode titled "Gwimbly: Definitive Remastered Enhanced Extended Edition DX 4K (Anniversary Director’s Cut)."

Once a celebrated video game icon of the 90s platformer era and the face of Insane Groundbreaking Games, Gwimbly fell into homelessness and destitution following the cancellation of his game series. His fortunes change when Pim, an enthusiastic fan of his games, steps in to help him regain fame by launching a new game.

He is voiced by Zach Hadel, one of the show's co-creators.

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

Even though he only appears in one episode, immediately after his debut, he became one of the most iconic, favored, and talked about characters in the series.
His portrayal as a washed-up, forgotten 90s video game mascot resonates with fans of retro platformers, reminding some of old video game mascots like Rayman or Crash Bandicoot, whom Gwimbly is a clear parody of.
- People even began pretending that he has always existed, creating animations and fake video game titles to perpetuate the joke.
He quickly became the subject of fan art, memes, and nostalgic jokes. Some of the memorable moments from the episode include Gwimbly performing his "iconic victory dance," his "Gwimbly Gun" threat, his mention of America's fentanyl crisis, his awkward Cameo video, and his love for creamed corn.
His personality is funny, eccentric, prideful, and irritable, yet he is also friendly and appreciative, making him an entertaining and likable character.
