Making a drink is a sensory skill. In dreams, creating fizzy concoctions requires adding a bit of your mood. Heavier if you're troubled, a touch sweeter if you're in high spirits... It's not just about mixing beverages. It's about mixing the experiences of life.
~ Gallagher
You know, in the thick of things, people are blind to the grit in their eyes... ...yet they can always feel its scratch. Want the answer? I'll give it to you. The whole thing is just fate playing a cruel joke on us.
~ Gallagher betraying Sunday by sic his Memory Zone Monster: "Dormancy", sending him to Dreamflux Reef, A Walk Among the Tombstones.

Gallagher (Real Name: Penacony) was a major playable character in turn-based role-playing video game Honkai Star Rail. He was a virtual creation made by & based on a group of History Fictionologists in Penacony, who acts as a bartender and a Bloodhound Family Police Officer. He was resposnible for sending the invitation to the Charmony Festival for the Astral Express and brought Firefly, a Stellaron Hunter and Robin, Sunday's sister into Dreamflux Reef via Memory Zone Monster Attack. He was a friend of Mikhail Char Legwork, the Pathstrider of Enigmata, and the creator and owner of his right-hand Memory Zone Meme: "Something Unto Death".

He is voiced by Ma Yufei (马语非) in Chinese dub, Park Sang-hoon (박상훈) in Korean dub, Satoshi Mikami in Japanese dub, and Erik Braa (Who voiced Draven in League of Legends) in English dub.

What Makes Him Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

  • Gallagher becomes incredibly popular towards fanbase for his design being a Mid-Life Crisis Man, with a partial stubble created by a company who made the video games featuring the cast of women and pretty bishie guys.
    • Being a male fire type character, he serves as a trend-breaker for fire damage type characters (Aside for The Trailblazer), an element with the characters predominantly female before being followed up by Firefly in version 2.2 and then Jiaoqiu in version 2.4.
  • Gallagher is an effective 4-star combat healer (As an Abundance Character gameplaywise), who provides healing to a single unit with a mix of implied alcoholic drinks and being a support unit for Break-Damage Focused Team units such as Harmony Trailblazer, and Firefly.
  • He was a creation of a group of History Fictionologists in Penacony, who befriends with Mikhail Char Legwork, The Watchmaker and stays loyal to his side. Because of The Watchmaker's other friend has jumping off moral ambiguity into becoming an unfettered control freak, he has Gallagher on his side to use the Dreamflux Reef to make it a temporal paradise for rebels, in which The Watchmaker was labelled as The Traitor by Gopher Wood. Gallagher sends the Charmony Festival invitation to the Astral Express, as per The Watchmaker's instructions.
  • His role in the Trailblaze Main Story that he was hyped up as a villain for causing Memory Zone Monster Attacks in Penacony, only to be revealed as a Twist Hero when the Protagonist were transported into the Dreamflux Reef and met Firefly after being revealed that she is indeed a Stellaron Hunter. Not only the twist hero, but he's also a mastermind behind such events in Penacony by using a Memory Zone Monster: Something Unto Death / "Dormancy" as his right-hand attack dog and betrays Sunday right in his eyes.
    • In fact, in the version 2.1 livestream, Shaoji describes Gallagher as "The Only Villager in the Werewolf game", which fits his modus operandi in the story, though he was The Watchmaker's Right-Hand Man.
  • While there are plenty of foreshadowing hints throughout Penacony story that Gallagher was indeed The Watchmaker's Right-Hand Man and connected to a memory zone monster named "Something Unto Death", but him responding March 7th's question of age, "I'm Thirteen", stands out to worth a chuckle. Despite March 7th knowing his answer a blatant lie, it's actually a genius bonus of foreshadowing that thirteen is a number of Death Arcana tarot card.
  • Gallagher was also revealed to be a made-up individual entity from an amalgamation of the traits of 52 Family Members. This is also why his "real" name was "Penacony" in the true ending credits scene.
  • Like Misha, his death was met with plenty of tears as he bids farewell to the Astral Express to meet The Watchmaker at the other side.
  • Gallagher is basically an inversion of Tingyun in several occassions:
    • While both Gallagher and Tingyun dons in red and white clothing and being a support unit, their modus operandi was different. Tingyun was actually possessed by Phantylia and manipulating the Denizens of Abundance, Disciples of Sanctus Medicus, and Xianzhou Luofu into pitting them to destroy themselves. Gallagher on the other hand was controls his Memory Zone Monster, "Something Unto Death" to "Kill" people, or actually kidnaps them into Dreamflux Reef to be precise to escape The Family's control.
    • While Tingyun was revealed to be possessed by Phantylia, all along much to the audience's surprise, Gallagher was actually an amalgamated creation of 52 members of The Family, created by the History Fictionologists. And he's revealed to be the mastermind of the rescue-operation, which disguised as assassination by controlling his pet, Dormancy.
    • Lastly, Gallagher was confirmed to be ceased to exist in version 2.3. Tingyun on the other hand was revived by Ruan Mei as "Fugue" in version 2.7.
    • Fanbase adored how much Gallagher being the mastermind of the Trailblaze Mission Chapter Penacony because of major role by creating his monster pet, a memory zone monster named "Dormancy" to abduct the guests of Penacony to the Dreamflux Reef, to save them from Gopher Wood's influence. In contrast, the reveal of Tingyun actually being possessed by Lord Ravager Phantylia was known as the infamous asspull because of no foreshadowing hints of Tingyun being possessed earlier.

Trivia[]

  • Gallagher serves an inspiration for the character Scammer Cup in Clockie Cartoon.
  • Gallagher, Misha, Siobhan, and Mr. Reca were the Honkai Star Rail Ensemble Dark Horses who originates in Penacony.
    • Both Misha and Gallagher were Honkai Star Rail Ensemble Dark Horses who were playable characters and also confirmed to be deceased.
