Firebug (Batman Caped Crusader)

Joseph Rigger otherwise known as Firebug is a minor antagonist of the Amazon Prime Video animated series Batman: Caped Crusader. He is an inmate who was obsessed with the flames and is an enemy of Batman.

He is voiced by Tom Kenny.

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

He was adapted from a mostly unknown villain usually overshadowed by the more popular villain Firefly, which is referenced in the episode. He is treated like a joke by Flass and Bullock, making fans believe the writers intentionally used Firebug instead of Firefly for whatever speculative reason. He is unlike his previous comic versions, and he was a regarded as a scary one-shot antagonist for Batman whose delusions came off as both sad and frightening.
He is only featured in the episode "The Night of the Hunters" and was given a lot a praise despite his comic versions being mostly forgotten.
He was sympathetic to the fans as he was clearly insane, but Flass and Bullock used him like a device to lure out Batman. Firebug even surrenders after running out of fuel, but Bullock kills him in cold blood. Not only did that fuel the intentional hate for the two corrupt cops but also had fans feeling bad for Firebug because despite his arsonist tendencies, he was in dire need of mental health service and arguably didn't deserve to die.
Tom Kenny's voice acting was considered a major highlight for the character and contributed to many of his good will for the fans.
