Cream the Rabbit is a supporting character in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. She is a young rabbit who is often accompanied by her chao friend Cheese.
She was voiced by Sayaka Aoki in Japanese, and is currently voiced by Michelle Ruff in English.
What Makes Her an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- The character was initially created to act as Team Rose's flight character in Sonic Heroes but made her debut in Sonic Advance 2 so that she would be properly introduced to audiences.
- The character had initially started as base-breaking when she was first introduced, with some fans deeming her as somewhat annoying and not very memorable, though in recent times, fans have become more attached to the character.
- Despite her cute appearance and gentle personality, fans consider her one of the most badass characters in the franchise, thanks in part to being a game-breaking character in almost every game she appears in:
- Fans often note that Cream is technically the most powerful character in Sonic Advance 2, since she can easily toss Cheese at Eggman during the boss battles in order to defeat him fairly quickly, even the dreaded Egg Saucer, in comparison to the other characters.
- A popular meme surrounding the character is how she is able to carry around both Amy and Big (a large, overweight cat that is roughly three times her size) in Sonic Heroes during Team Roses's flight formation, using just her ears to fly no less.
- In Sonic Advance 3, she can effortlessly defeat most of the game's bosses just by having Cheese hover over Eggman, with the sole exception of the Egg Pinball.
- In Issue #30 of the IDW Sonic Comics, Cream actually stands up against Zavok of all people, telling him to screw off, after being fed up with the Zeti given what Zeena put her through prior, as well as when Zavok threatens her and her mother. When Zavok refuses, she has Cheese attack him, which distracts him long enough to get defeated.
- She is also known for her snarky remarks at Death Adder of all people in Sega Heroes, telling him that she isn't afraid of him. When he tells her he should, her reply is "And yet, here we are."
- As a result of her being overpowered in several games she appears in, heavily clashing with the character's design and personality, it is often common for fanart that depicts the character to have her carrying weapons, including guns, with an innocent expression on her face.
- The character became so popular, that her exclusion from Sonic Team Racing in Team Rose and being replaced with Omochao had upset many Sonic fans.
- Later on, Cream's inclusion as a playable character in Sonic Dream Team with her having a more prominent role has fans overjoyed that she is finally getting her much-deserved attention in the franchise after being shafted away for so long, granting them much assurance that she is still part of the cast.
