Bonnie Kelly is a recurring character in the dark comedy sitcom, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

She is the mother of one of the main characters, Charlie, acting as one of the main causes for his own bizarre behavior. She is a retired prostitute who lives in a quiet house and often tries to spend time with Charlie.

She was portrayed by the late Lynn Mary Stewart.

What Makes Her an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

  • Like her son, she is prone to talking about nonsensical topics and bizarre ideas, such as her belief that dogs eat faces or thinking that if she doesn’t regularly count to three, Charlie will suddenly die.
  • She is one of the few genuinely nice people on the show. Outside of her paranoia about Muslims, she is very polite and affable woman who openly cares for her son.
  • She offers a unique insight into how Charlie became the man he is today, such as his unpredictable personality.
  • She has an entertaining dynamic with the other characters, such as finding Dennis, a known womanizer, to be unattractive or her bickering with Mrs. Mac.
  • Thanks to her innocent appearance and personality, many of her out of nowhere moments are darkly funny, such as casually describing being in a threesome or her paranoia in regards to her Muslim neighbors.
