Bill Grey is one of the heroes from the Star Fox games. He is a Cornerian fighter pilot and was Fox McCloud's childhood friend.

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse?

• Bill, despite his appearances having been so few compared to Katt Monroe, who at least appears in the manga, is very popular due to his being an old friend to Fox, and adding more to Fox's backstory besides the latter losing his father.
• In the Katina mission in Star Fox 64 where he was first introduced, the player is given the objective to protect the allied military base from a swarm of enemies and an enemy mothership that seeks to destroy it. Should the mothership succeed, the base will be destroyed and it has an emotional impact on Fox, who feels he has let him down and possibly die, which Bill fortunately did and does not hold hard feelings towards Fox for failing. If they do succeed, Bill will say good-bye to Fox, but if Fox manages to complete the mission without shooting down any of his units, he will give a unique line, praising Fox for not shooting them down.
• Bill is also very helpful in the battles after the Katina, such as helping out in opening warp gates in Sector X and leaving behind helpful items in Solar, despite the temperatures being too high for his ship.
• Bill has been a subject of shipping, to which he would be either shipped with Fox or Katt, or even shipped with Fay, mainly due to them being equivalents.
