Arnold Neumann is a supporting character in Gundam Seed. He is a former OMNI Enforcer soldier in Earth Alliance who currently being a member of ORB Union (ORB Emirates) as well as Archangel Corps from a Chief Petty Officer to an Ensign. He's also had a good judgement and execution skills serves as a coordinator for the Archangel Battleship bridge crew, though he is overshadowed by his charismatic superiors. In times of crisis, his insane battleship piloting skills is a greatest contribution of the Archangel's survival. In Gundam Seed Freedom, now working under Compass, He returns as the helmsman of the Millenium, following the destruction of Archangel Battleship by The Black Knight Squad of Kingdom of Foundation.
In Japanese dub, he is voiced by Isshin Chiba. In English dub, he is voiced by Phillip Pacaud (The Ocean Group), Ben Pronsky (NYAV Post in HD Remaster), and Bill Butts (in Gundam Seed Freedom).
What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse? []
- In general, Arnold Neumann is a stoic and skilled pilot who contributes the survival of the Archangel bridge crew by performing sick maneuver such as doing a barrel roll with the hulking vessel under gravity, in times of crisis, cementing him as a memetic badass. He becomes a Chekhov's Gunman later on for contributing Archangel's victory over Minerva in the finale of Gundam Seed Destiny. His capability of insane piloting skills made the Archangel earns a moniker "The Unsinkable Ship". Though tragically, the Archangel-Class Space Battleship doesn't last in Gundam Seed Freedom.
- Even after Archangel Battleship was destroyed in Gundam Seed Freedom, Neumann is still able to pilot Millenium space battleship (& even dons a pilot suit) together with his superior, Murrue Ramius, in the uppermost level. Keep that in mind, the Millenium space battleship is bigger than Archangel.
- While Neumann rarely speaks and keeps to himself, he's the one who rallies the crew when the Archangel space battleship is in lockdown in Artemis asteroid fortress. 
- In a series full of racists (Muruta Azrael for example), he doesn't display any sense of prejudice against coordinators, such as Kira Yamato.
- Supplementary Materials reveal that Neumann has a crush on Natarle Badgiruel when they were working at OMNI Enforcer military. During the 2nd Battle of Jachin Due, the Archangel space battleship had to destroy Dominion space battleship, a darker palette variant of an Archangel class space battleship of Dominion corps, to avenge Mu La Flaga (Though he's revealed to be alive in Gundam Seed Destiny). In which, Murrue and Arnold had to kill Natarle Badgiruel, their comrade in Archangel Corps, inside who was gunned down by Muruta Azrael for protesting, after she ordered the rest of Dominion bridge crew to leave the ship. Then she locks the door to take Azrael down along with her.
- The Archangel barrel roll maneuver technique, which performed by Arnold Neumann before, is named "Badgiruel Maneuver" by Murrue Ramius in honor to their fallen comrade in Gundam Seed Freedom. 
- No matter the side the Archangel crew is serving, he will always be their one and only helmsman. 
- Being an unsung hero of Gundam Seed series, Arnold Neumann is placed 7th in 2024 Seed Freedom Popularity Poll for having an insane piloting skill, even if he's not a mobile suit pilot.
