Anthony Higgs is one of the supporting characters who first appeared in Metroid: Other M. He is one of Samus Aran's best friends from their Federation days and he is the point man in Adam Malkovich's team called the 07th Platoon.

He was voiced in English by Mike McGillicuty, and by Kenji Nomura in Japanese.

What Makes Him an Ensemble Dark Horse

• When Metroid: Other M's trailer came out, Anthony Higgs, despite his very brief appearance, became popular very quickly due to him asking "Remember me?", which ascended to meme status.
  • With his official name unrevealed at the time, fans have often referred to him as MBD, abbreviated for Mysterious Black Dude.
• Anthony is able to execute the light-hearted playful personality pretty well in a normally dark-toned series which brings something new to the series and does so without derailing any intense moments.
• Anthony averts many of the stereotypes and is portrayed like an actual person, which is a nice touch.
• Anthony is considered to be the most competent characters in the game and is shown to be a good friend to Samus and it shows through the entirety of the game, and he nicknames her "Princess" as a show of respect towards her to show how they are comfortable they are around each other.
• Additionally, he is loyal to her and will go all out to protect her from the Mystery Creature and even Ridley. As infamous as the scene between Samus and Ridley was, Anthony not only saves her, but he even had the gall to provoke the most feared monster, even if it results in him being defeated. He also helps stop the BOTTLE SHIP from crashing into Galactic Federation HQ which saved thousands of people and used his authority to take Madeline Bergman into custody. On top of that, out of all the members of the platoon, Anthony is the only one to actually survive, despite having his life threatened on occasions.
• Taking into consideration that Anthony Higgs' likable personality and competence is what made, even those who despise the game, consider him to be the best part about it and its major redeeming quality, and they don't mind him making a return in future games as they wanted to know more about him aside from being friends with Samus in the military days which didn't get much exploration in his debut. The fact that Anthony hasn't made further appearances besides his debut, especially not as a trophy or spirit in the Super Smash Bros. series while the less favored Adam Malkovich did was disappointing.
