Adeleine is a major character in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. She is a human girl of an unspecified origin who had come to Popstar to study art. She is a talented young artist that can paint pictures that come to life.

What Make Her an Ensemble Dark Horse?[]

Adeleine is the least prominent of all of Kirby's allies in the game, appears very sparsely, isn't given much of a personality, and isn't much of a fighter compared to the other characters. Additionally, she hadn't played any roles in subsequent titles the series outside of spin-off titles until the release of Star Allies. Despite all of this, she is one of the most beloved characters in the Kirby fandom, being a popular subject of fanart.
Adeleine is one of the few characters in the Kirby canon to be human and female, two things that makes her stand out amongst most of the other characters, which appear to just be made up of humanoid creatures or cutesy animal-like creatures, and most of which are male or genderless.
It isn't uncommon for fans to consider Adeleine one of the main characters of the Kirby series, often putting her in the main group in fanworks.
There was a period where it was relatively commonplace for fans to demand that she reappear in another game during her abscence.
When it was announced that both her and Ribbon would make another appearance in Star Allies, fans were naturally excited over the news.
When Bandana Dee was promoted to being the franchise's fourth main character, fans often stated they preferred having her or Gooey in his place.

She is currently the only Kirby character to be an Ensemble Dark Horse.
