“ | The Undead Legion of Farron is a caravan of Undead. Sworn by the wolf's blood to contain the Abyss, the Legion will bury a kingdom at the first sign of exposure. Joyous bunch, really. Gaining admission to the Legion is a matter of some ceremony. Inside their keep, snuffing out the flames of three altars opens the door to the wolf blood. Even accursed Undead want to believe they're special, it seems. I pity the sorry souls. | „ |

What Makes Them Ensemble Dark Horse?[]
- The Abyss Watchers shares tragic fate as the other Lords of Cinder (Excluding Aldrich, Saint of the Deep) because of being corrupted by The Abyss by the time Ashen One walks in the boss arena. Even Hawkwood the Deserter, despite being ostracized for having a shield, sympathizes them because of their fate being corrupted into insanity after years of fighting The Abyss.
- The Abyss Watchers have their own fighting style, in which adapting from Knight Artorias and his companion, Great Grey Wolf Sif. They're known for practicing blade-brakes and most of their swordfighting moves were inspired by Artorias himself, including their acrobatic greatsword moves.
- The Abyss Watchers also following the tradition of Guts's Expies. Slave Knight Gael will do the same thing in The Ringed City DLC as final boss.
- The second phase cutscene reminds players straight coming out from Bloodborne, one of the Fromsoftware games, particularly referencing Lady Maria of the Astral Clock Tower from The Old Hunters DLC. Their garbs were counted as well because looks like any hunters from Bloodborne, though they fight without a gun.
- Their boss's name is a nod from a quote of Friedrich Nietzsche: "He Who Fights Monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
- Their soundtrack is very epic and sad in same time, being perfect for boss who are fallen heroes.
